Washing machines
Front or top loading, from small capacity to family size. The capacity quoted in kilos refers to dry, packed laundry: in ordinary use, the drum is rarely filled to its maximum. Spin speed, noise level and the real length of the short cycles matter more day to day than how long the programme list is.
Choose by use
The right product depends on the situation. Each page below takes the category’s criteria and changes their weight for one specific need.
What we rate in this category
Every product in the category is rated from 0 to 100 on these criteria — the same for all of them, whichever merchant sells it.
- Price
- Where the product sits against the others in its category, at comparable specifications, on the market being browsed. The longer the bar, the better placed the product is on price.
- Washing performance
- Results on everyday stains and rinsing quality, on a comparable programme.
- Consumption
- Electricity and water used per standard cycle, brought back to a year. The longer the bar, the more frugal the appliance.
- Quietness and durability
- Noise level while washing and spinning, and the expected life of the moving parts.
Price brackets by tier
Orders of magnitude, not displayed prices: a price only appears on Kalyneo once it has been collected from a merchant, with its collection date.
Under €400
Small capacities, moderate spin, basic programmes. Enough for one or two people.
€400 to €800
The most common bracket: family capacity, high spin speed, a good energy class.
Over €800
Large capacities, quiet motors, automatic dosing and short cycles that really are short.
No price collected yet
Kalyneo only shows a price once it has been collected automatically from the merchant, with the date it was collected; no price is ever entered by hand. The rating criteria, the price brackets and the buying guides are already online.
