What the Imou Cruiser Z Turret IP security camera Indoor & outdoor Ceiling/wall is worth

The Imou Cruiser Z is a turret IP security camera for ceiling or wall mounting, indoors and outdoors. It records in 5 MP with a 1/3" CMOS sensor, connects via Ethernet or Wi-Fi 6, and accepts MicroSD cards up to 512 GB. Its IP66-certified plastic housing withstands harsh weather.

Its strengths are 56 m night vision (score 87/100, well above the 30 m market median) and 12x digital zoom to observe distant details. The 5 MP resolution (score 75/100) slightly exceeds the market median. However, 15 fps fluidity (score 45/100) remains jerky compared to the usual 30 fps, and 12 W consumption (score 66/100) sits above the 8.64 W median.

It offers 0 to 355° pan, 0 to 90° tilt, human and vehicle detection, a 110 dB siren, built-in microphone and speaker. The field of view ranges from 28.1° at 12 mm focal length to 113.7° at 2.8 mm. Overall score: 68/100.

This camera suits those monitoring a large outdoor area at night who want to zoom in on precise details, prioritising night range over video fluidity.

Who this model suits

It’s for you if

Your first criterion is the night vision: it happens to be its best score.

You want a good score on the resolution, above its category average.

You prefer a model tracked across several merchants, to buy at the right time.

Skip it if

Its lowest score is on the smoothness: skip it if that is decisive for you.

Frequently asked questions

Answers drawn from this model’s datasheet.

The camera features 12x digital zoom, not optical. It has a fixed focal length of 12 mm with a 24.4° horizontal viewing angle. This digital zoom enlarges the image through software processing, which may reduce sharpness compared to optical zoom.

Yes, the camera includes a MicroSD card reader that supports up to 512 GB of local storage. You can record without a subscription, directly onto the memory card.

The document indicates White LED type with a 56 m range, which suggests lighting for colour night vision. Day/night mode and integrated light are present, but the exact type of night vision (colour or infrared) is not specified.
